Leaving Singapore

With intentions to come back for sure ;)

sunny

So I am at the airport all checked in and ready to leave Singapore. I hope the flight to Pakistan will be as interesting as the one to Singapore -- I think I forgot to tell you all the fun times I had on the plane lol -- it started with meeting the guys sitting next to me, Pratush and Christian.. very cool people. Before I knew it I was sharing wedding cake with the San Franciscan newlyweds seated behind us, they were on their way to Bali =). Anyhoo... thats enough back to the future action.... lets talk about my last days in Singapore!

The last time I left you, it was storming and I was dreading going outside, but I figured hey, time to man up, get an umbrella and hit the road jack! So I did. I went on a solo mission this time, heading to China town which was not nearly as nice as the one in Japan, but it was pretty cool. I bought some sandals (since my feet were begging to be let out of my nikes) and a skirt cuz jeans were an awful idea lol. After my run through China town I hopped on a train and headed to a placed called Boat Quay to see the Singapore River -- it was cute from far away but the water was really really dirty. From the bridge I stood on, it looked like a little Asian Italy lol. By now, I was beat from trekking about in the rain and lugging around my heavy backpack so I hopped on yet another train but instead of going home, at the last minute I headed towards City Hall.

I walked over to the Raffles Hotel which is one of the oldest landmarks of Singapore, you could definately see the history behind it as soon as you saw it. It was very nice -- I was rather amused by the way the guards at the door were dressed, it was very reminiscent of the British occupation of India -- but I guess thats what they were going for! I was suppose to try an original Singapore Sling at the Raffles since that is were it orignated but I opted out when I realized that it was gonna cost around twenty bucks -- I mean, its gonna taste the same as the free one on the plane right?! lol

I tried to take a look at the Singapore war memorial because that kind of stuff really intersts me, but unfortunately, the F1 racing extravaganza has taken over all of Singapore and the memorial was closed. So I went to starbucks for a green tea latte instead -- yummy -- they didn't even charge me extra for soy ;)

After this I managed to hit up Arab street which was absolutely beautiful with the Sultan Mosque and all. There were rugs and fabrics for sale EVERYWHERE!! I strolled down Kandahar street and also checked out Hajji Lane lol -- good times. I walked all the way back to the hostel after that... whew, seven hour day!

I took a quick nap for about an hour after eating the tandoori chicken and naan I picked up on Arab street for yes, only 3SGD!!! I got up, got my act together and ran out to go catch my bus for the night safari I had planned for the evening.

The night safari was AMAZING!! I saw so many beautiful animals -- they were free roaming and some of them came right up to us on the tram. The fact that it was totally dark and there were creatures all around us was a little scary, especially the fruit bats that were friggin huge -- they flew right over our heads!! Unfortuntely, I wasn't able to take any photographs because the flash would have upset the animals and considering they were free range, I thought it best to opt for my life instead of a photograph ;). I saw hippos, hyenas, asian rhinos, elephants, different kinds of deers and a variety of other animals, it was definately a very up close and personal experience -- loved it.

Today was mostly uneventful, except for the search for my luggage bag at the airport -- if you are going to store your bag, please remember which terminal lol -- duh nadia! Anyway, I am going to grab a bite to eat before my flight to Pakistan takes off in about forty minutes and I will check you all later!!

xoxo

P.S. I think I've come to the conclusion that despite my reservations, I can live below my means if I need to.. seriously, I've been without cell phone for like four days now and the world hasn't ended.. .what do ya know!?

Singapore

View It all starts in Singpaore & Ahh, the homeland - Pakistan on Nadia0229's travel map.

Ok, so I didn't really know what to expect from Singapore - I mean I never really hear of people vacationing here, but I must say that it is a beautiful place!

The hostel I'm staying in is great -- I absolutely love the people and the place. The eight bed all female room is very interesting. I am on the top bunk and have yet to fall lol -- All in all, I would recommend it to anyone coming to Singapore!

The first day I got here, I checked in and made my way out into the city and came upon a nice Indian woman whom I only know as "the Aunty from Lucknow". She was wandering around alone so we decided to wander together. We caught a train over to the Chinese Gardens -- it took about an hour to get there and there wasn't much to see but it was a fun ride! =)

On the way home, we stopped off in Little India -- my goodness, you wouldn't believe how many Indian people are in Singapore! It's insane! I felt like I was in India already -- I may not even bother going now, haha, just kidding ;) But really, lots of Indians =0

The next day, I met some awesome Aussies named Eva and Natalie -- they turned out to be very cool, I wish they hadn't left yesterday! In any case, the girls and I made our way to one of the must see places of Singapore - its called SENTOSA ISLAND. It was like a fantasy island resort I tell you. BEAUTIFUL! They had three amazing beaches, dolphin shows, sky rides to see the views, and did I mention the beaches!? lol -- Eva and I went swimming and the water -- despite its saltiness was perfect!! I could have easily spent a week laying on the beach in the perfect velvety sands. I was planning on going back today, but unfortunately the storming rains outside have caused a slight change in my plans =0.

After returning from Sentosa Island, the girls left back home to Australia and I took a "nap" that I was suppose to wake up from to go out to a place called Clarke Quay (where the pubs/clubs live) -- but I didn't wake up lol -- oops. Anyway, so today, I am heading to Chinatown and Arab street for a bit and then back to the hostel to avoid getting my only pair of jeans soaked (i left my luggage in storage at the airport haha).

Tonight I am going on a Night Safari -- I'll let you guys know how that goes in my next entry ;).

Anyhoo... my internet time is running out so I gotta run! I'll check in again soon!!

xoxo

Hello Everyone!!

Welcome to my travel blog!! Thank you so much for reading and for subscribing, (some of you were automatically subscribed haha), you will be able to read my blogs, see some uploaded pictures/videos and even see a map of my travels from here.

I am so very excited about the trip, which is now only four and a half days away!! Yippee!! I am even more excited that you all will be reading along -- especially since I will be alone for parts of the way - it is very nice to know that somewhere, someone is listening.

So far, I have a few exciting things planned for Singapore, I anticipate it being a beautiful trip even though I'll only be there for a short three days (bummer).... I have already posted pictures of the hostel I will be staying in while I am there -- looks pretty nice, aye? I will be staying in an eight bed female room, I can't wait -- I am expecting to meet some really awesome people. In any case, I want you to hear about Singapore once I've been there so in an effort to avoid ruining any surprises -- I will wait until my next blog to tell you all about everything I did and saw in beautiful almost crime free Singapore. (Did I mention that Singapore is one of the safest cities in the world)

I have to run and go grab last minute things for the big trip -- stay tuned for my next blog which will of course, be from Singapore! =)
